The Ms. Trudy Delory Memorial Award is now a permanent scholarship, with awards made in Trudy’s name beginning in June 2026. This fund was established in memory of beloved Wakefield educator Trudy Delory by the Wakefield Education Association (WEA) with the heartfelt approval of the Delory family to honor Trudy’s legacy.
Trudy Delory was a lifelong resident of Wakefield whose accomplishments as a beloved teacher, committed union leader, elected public official, community volunteer, and creative force will be remembered by generations of Wakefield students and families. Ms. Delory worked in the Wakefield Public Schools for her entire professional career, mostly as a health educator at the Galvin Middle
School. She LOVED Wakefield and joyfully supported students, families, and educators during and after her long tenure as a teacher. She was also a proud member and elected officer of the Wakefield Education Association (WEA) and her commitment to improving our schools extended well beyond her retirement.
Ms. Delory’s WEA brothers and sisters, with the loving approval of her family, created this fund to honor her legacy. As a joyful, generous, optimistic, and loving educator and person, Ms. Delory believed, “Words are sounds; deeds are thunder”. Therefore, this fund will sponsor a Wakefield student who aspires to take action to help others, especially in the field of education.
Donations are encouraged to the Ms. Trudy Delory Memorial Award to help the fund grow and increase the number of awards.
