James A. Wensley was born in Lynn, MA. After excelling at Lynn English High, he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology majoring Transportation. It was there that Jim met his future wife Cathy and made many lifelong friends. Due to his love of travel and maps, Jim truly enjoyed his work as a senior transportation planner at Multisystems (later Transystems) for more than 30 years. In 2018, he became a proud member of the All Fifty States Club, having visited his 50th state on a trip to North Dakota.
In 1990 Jim and Cathy moved to Wakefield and started their family. Jim was a wonderful father to his three sons and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of their lives. Jim felt at home in Wakefield. He couldn’t wait to get involved in their education, sports and activities. Jim gave willingly of his time to groups such as the Wakefield/Lynnfield United Methodist Church, Greenwood PTO, Boy Scouts, WHS Music Boosters, WHS Marching Band Pit Crew, WHS Football, WHS Wrestling and WPI Wrestling. Jim was a
humble and kindhearted person who touched those around him.
The James A. Wensley Memorial Fund was established by his family as a tribute to his generous spirit and caring nature. He would want to support the love of learning and educational advancement in any student.
