This fund honors a 22-year-old WHS Class of 1966 graduate, who died in 1971, while undergoing minor surgery. Roxie had been a resident of Wakefield for seven years. At the time of her death, she was employed as a secretary by the Parker X-Ray Company of Brookline. Roxanne played guitar and she was described as having “the voice of an angel”. Roxie lived each minute to the fullest studying at Salem State College and sailing at the Quannapowitt Yacht Club. A committee of classmates and friends, led by John F. Carney, established this fund by staging a concert in her memory. Her fund has a preference for a student studying music.
