James F. Preston, Jr. Memorial Fund

James F. Preston Jr. was born on March 24, 1936; he died on June 4, 2003. For 36 years he was married to Rosalie Preston (Black). James was a veteran of the Korean War. He was the father of six children: Philip, Betsy, Ann, Matthew, Sarah, and Emily. At the time of his death, he was the grandfather to four children, Joseph, Noah, Megan and Leah. In September of 1993 he fell from the roof of a house while making repairs. He suffered from a variety of complications stemming from this accident including kidney failure and blindness. This scholarship fund was established upon his death by his family because of James’ strong belief in higher education, particularly at Catholic Colleges. Additionally, most of his children have been recipients of TSF scholarships and this is their way to “give back” to the Foundation. James worked for many years at the US Post Office in Reading. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, bowling, sports (particularly baseball), and building things with wood.
