This fund honors a local doctor who served the Town of Wakefield for 45 years. He was a long-time contributor to The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield. It was very fitting that, upon his retirement in 1982, his friends and colleagues chose to honor him by starting this fund in his name. He was the recipient of the “Wakefieldian of the Year Award”, presented by the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce. During his medical career, Dr. Dutton delivered over 2000 babies. Known as the “Wakefield Family Doctor”, Robert Dutton was a pioneer in the field of family medicine. Dr. Dutton passed away in June 1988. His fund has a preference for a student planning a career in the field of medicine.
