The Charles H. Nute, Jr. Fund memorializes the organizer, and for many years the director, of the 9:29 Banjo Club. Charlie’s musical talent and warm personality gave pleasure to audiences wherever he appeared. He was a chemical engineer and for many yeas was associated with the U.S. Customs laboratory in Boston. A testimonial in his honor held at the Colonial Statler Hilton in 1968 was a memorable occasion which drew a capacity audience. Charlie died on June 9, 1970. This memorial fund was initiated by the 9:29ers of the First Parish Congregational Church.
