Artie Swanson Remembrance Fund

Artie Swanson was born and lived his entire life on the West Side of Wakefield. He attended Wakefield public schools graduating with the WHS Class of 1961. He was an outstanding football and hockey player. After graduation, he joined his father in business at West Side Auto Body, becoming proprietor following his father’s death. He was an avid golfer and long time member of the Bear Hill Country Club and the West Side Social Club. Members of both these organizations conducted major fundraising events in his honor following his death. The Artie Swanson Remembrance Committee held a benefit dance and raffle at the West Side Social Club and the Artie Swanson Memorial Bowl was a three-day golf event held on Cape Cod. He was married to the former Cynthia Poor and the father of William and Donna P. Swanson.
