On Saturday, March 16, 2024, The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield, Inc. (TSF) kicked off the Annual Appeal. On behalf of TSF, I would like to thank all the Wakefield residents who have responded so favorably and generously when asked to support the Annual Appeal, our largest fundraiser of the year. We are truly grateful for the continued support, which enables TSF to aid Wakefield students and families with the escalating expense of higher education while also easing the burden of overwhelming student loan debt. Since 1960, The Scholarship Foundation has been a part of Wakefield and has awarded 12,780 scholarships to local residents. This amazing accomplishment is only possible due to the ongoing generosity of our Wakefield community over the past 64 years.
The great success of this annual event would not be possible without a tremendous amount of support. I would like to recognize the efforts of our student directors who participated in this year’s event, showing up at the Civic Center early on a Saturday morning and preparing thousands of flyers for mailing. Their energy and hard work were infectious and helped get the job done quickly. A special thank you to Meg Delory Leahy and Becky Lamarre for coordinating the student directors.
TSF is grateful for the assistance of Jon Pinkney and the staff of the Wakefield Daily Item for publicizing the event and for their outstanding efforts in the preparation of the Annual Appeal supplies. We also want to thank the Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department for mailing TSF flyers along with the light department bills. Thanks are also extended to Town Administrator, Steve Maio and the Wakefield Town Council for their endorsement of the Annual Appeal. We thank Bob Sardella of Sardella Sign and Graphics for our beautiful event sign displayed in front of the Americal Civic Center.
TSF Administrators Anne Miller and Jennifer Walter were amazing with their countless hours of preparation. Their ongoing and efficient handling of duties will continue as donations arrive at the TSF office. Also, thank you to the TSF adult directors who dedicated their time during the day and helped at this year’s Annual Appeal.
There is still time to donate to TSF, whether it is to the General Fund or to a specific fund. Requests to have the donation applied to an existing scholarship can be made at that time by noting it on the check.
